I’m trying to make a smart buy and not get sucked into brand hype. I’m looking for a rifle that’s a solid value for money—reliable, decent accuracy, common parts/mags, and something I won’t regret in a year. This is for general range time and learning the platform, not collecting.
I’m not asking for anything illegal or sketchy—just trying to understand what “best value” looks like in the real world once you factor in ammo cost, maintenance, magazines, and upgrades. Are we talking entry-level ARs, older surplus guns, AK-pattern, bolt actions? What would you buy if you had to start over on a reasonable budget?
