I’m trying to figure out the best value-for-money hearing protection for regular range days and occasional field training (nothing extreme, mostly carbine/pistol, some outdoors, some indoor lanes). I’ve used basic foam earplugs forever, but I’m thinking about upgrading to something electronic so I can still hear range commands and talk without constantly popping one side out.
I don’t want to overspend just for a brand name, but I also don’t want something that fails after a few months or doesn’t actually cut the impulse noise. What’s the best “bang for the buck” in 2026—foam + muffs, reusable plugs, electronic muffs, in-ear electronic plugs? If you’ve got specific models that hold up, or a simple setup that works well, I’m all ears (protected ones).
