I’m trying to dial in an “ideal” tactical belt setup and I keep going back and forth on what belongs on the belt versus in pockets or on a chest rig/plate carrier. I’m not active duty—mostly range days, some classes, and the occasional outdoor training weekend—so I’m looking for something practical and not just Instagram-cool.
Right now I’m thinking a two-piece inner/outer belt, but I’m unsure about: where to put an IFAK so it’s accessible, how many rifle/pistol mags is realistic before it turns into a hula hoop, and whether a dump pouch and multitool are worth the space. Also curious if people prefer MOLLE outer belts or belts with fixed loops.
If you had to build your ideal tactical belt setup (mission-agnostic, but realistic), what would you run and why? Brand/model suggestions are welcome but I’m more interested in placement logic and what you’ve learned over time.
