I’ve been tinkering with my “ideal rifle setup” on paper for a while, and I’m curious what other people would actually choose if they had to keep it realistic.
Context: I’m not trying to build a fantasy space blaster. Think practical, modern military-style setup for training, range work, and general preparedness. I’m torn between keeping it simple (one do-it-all carbine) vs having a two-rifle approach (a lighter 5.56/AR-style and something for longer range like 7.62/.308).
What would be your ideal rifle setup and why? I’m especially interested in the tradeoffs you make (caliber, barrel length, optic choice, sling, light, suppressor/no suppressor, and what you consider “must-have” vs “nice-to-have”).
