I’m trying to dial in my “do-it-all” hearing protection setup for range days and occasional training classes. Right now I bounce between foam plugs and a basic set of electronic earmuffs, but I’m not fully happy—comfort under a hat/helmet is hit-or-miss, and I’d like something that still lets me hear commands and talk without yelling.
If you were building an ideal hearing protection setup from scratch, what would you choose and why? I’m thinking about stuff like: double-up vs single, electronic muffs vs in-ear electronic plugs, battery/charging preferences, wind noise, eye-pro clearance, sweat/heat, and whether integrating comms is actually worth it for regular civilians.
Not looking for medical advice—just real-world gear experiences and what works for you in a modern “tactical” setup.
