I’m trying to get serious about fitness again and I keep circling back to one thing: discipline. Motivation comes and goes for me (work stress, bad sleep, travel), but I notice the weeks I actually improve are the weeks I follow a plan even when I don’t feel like it.
I’m not military, but I’m drawn to that “operations mindset” where you do the mission regardless of mood. For those of you with more military experience or who train that way: what role does discipline really play in fitness success? Is it basically the whole thing, or is it overrated compared to programming, recovery, coaching, etc.? Also, how do you build discipline without turning into an overtrained zombie?
Would love practical ways to stay consistent, especially on days when motivation is dead.
