I’m working on improving my overall military-style fitness (rucking, bodyweight circuits, running, some lifting). One thing I don’t really train directly is balance, but I keep hearing it matters a lot for field performance and injury prevention.

For context: I’m not in the military, just training with that goal in mind. When I ruck on uneven trails or do quick direction changes during circuits, I feel “wobbly” and I’m slower to stabilize, especially when tired. I’m also trying to avoid dumb ankle/knee tweaks.

How big of a deal is balance for military fitness in the real world? What kind of balance training actually carries over to things like ruck marching, obstacle courses, working in boots, and moving with gear?
