I’ve been reading more about modern special operations and it seems like drones are everywhere now, from big ISR platforms down to tiny quadcopters. But I’m trying to understand what they actually change for a small team on the ground.
Are drones mostly used for scouting and overwatch, or are they also a big part of targeting, comms, resupply, and deception? How do units balance the benefits with the risks (noise, detection, jamming, giving away the team’s presence)?
Not looking for sensitive details—just a realistic breakdown of the role drones play in special operations today and where it’s heading.
