I’m training for a pretty “military style” routine right now: 4 days lifting, 2 days runs/rucks, and one day I try to keep easy but it turns into “active recovery” that isn’t that easy. I’m not broken, but I’m constantly sore (legs and lower back mostly), sleep is hit or miss, and my run pace is stalling.
Everybody has a different answer: ice baths, sauna, foam rolling, massage gun, stretching, electrolytes, magnesium, BCAAs, compression gear, etc. I don’t want to waste time or money on stuff that feels good for 10 minutes but doesn’t actually help recovery or performance.
For people here who train like military/ops fitness: what recovery methods actually work in the real world? And what’s overrated? I’m open to simple boring answers too (sleep, calories).
