I’m trying to buy my first rifle and I’m realizing how easy it is to get overwhelmed by hype, specs, and “must-have” accessories. My use case is pretty basic: range time, learning fundamentals, and maybe a class down the road. I keep bouncing between different calibers and setups because every video/forum seems to push a different “best.”
For those with more experience: what are the most common mistakes people make when choosing rifles? I’m especially curious about choices that look smart on paper but end up being annoying or expensive in real life (ammo cost, maintenance, parts, ergonomics, optics, etc.). I’m not looking for anything illegal or sketchy—just trying to make a sensible, safe purchase and train responsibly.
