I’m putting together a reference list for a modern tactical/military vehicles project (mostly for realism, not buying anything). If you had to pick an “ideal” military vehicle for special forces, what would it be and why?
I keep seeing everything from unarmored pickups with gear racks, to JLTVs, to MRZRs/ATVs, to helicopters being called the “real” answer. I’m trying to understand what’s actually ideal depending on mission type: reconnaissance, direct action, long-range desert patrol, urban raids, or moving small teams without getting pinned down.
If you can, please include what compromises you’d accept (noise, armor, signature, maintenance, fuel, size) and whether you’re thinking permissive vs. contested environments. I’m also curious what’s changed from Cold War-era special ops vehicles to today.
