I’ve been doing some long weekend hikes with a surplus pack and trying to dial in a “field-style” food setup (quick meals, minimal trash, decent calories). It got me thinking: what military trends are actually changing rations right now?
Is it mostly nutrition science (macros, caffeine, electrolytes), or is it logistics (lighter packaging, less water, resupply by drone), or mission type (cold weather, urban ops, special forces)? I’m curious what you all are seeing in modern armies vs older MRE-era stuff, and what you think is driving the changes.
