I see more smaller fixed blades, more multi-tool emphasis, and a lot of talk about weight and sustainment. On the other hand, there’s still a culture of carrying a tougher blade for prying, batoning, and general abuse.

So what trends in modern militaries are actually driving the changes? Is it mostly procurement and standardization, the shift to urban/vehicle-heavy operations, new materials/coatings, or changes in training and doctrine?
