I’m looking at military career options and I keep coming back to the idea of public affairs. I like writing and photography, and I’m comfortable talking to people, but I don’t fully understand what “public affairs” means day-to-day in the military.
What military jobs actually involve public affairs work (media, social media, press releases, interviews, community relations, command messaging, etc.)? Also—do these roles exist in every branch, and are they usually desk jobs or do they deploy with units too? I’m trying to figure out what to ask a recruiter and what training or skills would help me be competitive.
