I’m looking at military careers and I’m especially interested in roles that actually get tasked for disaster relief (hurricanes, floods, wildfires, earthquakes) and humanitarian assistance. I’m not trying to play hero—I just want a job where training and day-to-day skills translate to helping communities when things go sideways.

What MOS/rates/AFSCs (or general career fields) get used the most for disaster response? I’m open to active duty or Guard/Reserve. Also curious which branches tend to do more domestic response vs overseas humanitarian missions. Any insight from people who’ve done it would help a lot.
