I’m 24 and looking at joining, but I’m trying to be realistic about money long-term. When people ask “what military career pays the best,” I’m not just talking base pay—also bonuses, special pays, steady promotion potential, and what transfers well to civilian jobs after one enlistment or a full career.
I’m open to different branches and MOS/rates, and I’m willing to study for something technical if it’s worth it. If you’ve done it, what jobs actually end up being the highest paid (either while serving or after you get out), and what’s the catch (training, lifestyle, risk, deployment tempo)?
