I’ve been rotating between a basic digital and an “almost tactical” analog field watch for hiking, range days, and general everyday use. I’m not military, but I’m trying to build a setup that’s reliable and not just tacticool.
For those who’ve actually used military watches (issued or personal) during training, deployments, or serious field time: what are the biggest lessons you learned the hard way? Stuff like durability, battery life, straps, water resistance, visibility under NV/low light, accuracy, alarms, GPS features, or even just what’s worth paying for.
I’m also curious if you ended up trusting a simple cheap watch more than a smart watch, and what you’d recommend to someone trying to pick one “do-it-all” option without overthinking it.
