I’m trying to get smarter about hearing protection before I spend more money and before I build bad habits. I’ve mostly used basic foam plugs at indoor ranges and a couple of times around louder training (generators, sim rounds, etc.). Sometimes I feel like I lose awareness, other times I feel like the plugs don’t seal right and I still get that “pressure” feeling after.
For those of you who’ve actually used ear pro in the field, on vehicles, or during longer training days: what lessons have you learned the hard way? Foam vs electronic, fitting under helmets, dealing with sweat, keeping comms clear, or anything you wish you’d known earlier. Not asking for medical advice—just practical experiences and what you’d do differently now.
