I’ve been going down a rabbit hole on tanks that never get the spotlight. Everybody talks about Tigers, T-34s, Abrams, etc., but I’m more curious about the “quiet workhorses” that did a ton of fighting or solved a real doctrinal problem and still get overlooked.
So what do you think is the most underrated tank in history—and why? I’m not asking for “best tank ever,” more like: underappreciated impact, misunderstood design choices, or a vehicle that performed better than its reputation. Any era is fair game (WWII, Cold War, modern). If you can, include what role it actually excelled at (breakthrough, exploitation, infantry support, defense, etc.).
