I’m trying to upgrade my sleep setup for training weekends and occasional longer field time. I’ve used the usual “basic bag on a pad” and it works, but I feel like there are sleeper (no pun) systems that don’t get talked about—especially stuff that’s actually practical when you’re cold, wet, or trying to pack light.
I’m not asking for the most expensive or newest hype. I’m asking: what sleep system is genuinely underrated right now (bag/quilt, liner, bivy, pad combo, modular systems, etc.) and why? Bonus points if it’s something that’s common in surplus, overlooked, or a small change that makes a big difference in sleep quality and recovery.
