I’ve been building a small “grab and go” field kit for training weekends and long range days, and I realized I’m defaulting to the same mainstream stuff (US MREs, a few commercial freeze-dried meals). I’m not looking for gourmet—more like underrated, reliable rations that people sleep on: decent calories, reasonable packability, and won’t wreck morale when you’re cold and tired.
What rations do you think are the most underrated available today (military surplus or commercial equivalents)? Also curious what you’d pick for (1) hot weather, (2) cold weather, and (3) low-profile carry. Not asking for anything sketchy—just good, legal-to-buy options and real-world opinions.
