I’ve been going down the body armor rabbit hole for a few weeks and it feels like the same brands/models get all the attention (usually the stuff influencers run). I’m not looking for “best on paper” or a brand flex. I’m more interested in what’s genuinely underrated in 2026—something people overlook because it isn’t flashy, isn’t new, or doesn’t photograph well.
Context: I’m not military, but I do a lot of range days, occasional training classes, and I want a setup that’s realistic for movement (not just standing at a bench). Concealment matters sometimes, but I’d also consider a scalable carrier setup. I’m aware armor choice depends on threats/mission, so I’m asking more like: what armor type, plate cut, material, or specific “category” is undervalued by the community? Also interested in “boring” things like sizing, comfort, heat, and durability.
What do you think is the most underrated body armor available today—and why?
