I’m looking to upgrade my sleep setup for field use and longer training weekends, but I keep running into the same “this is the best sleep system ever” marketing. I’ve tried a couple popular modular setups and some high-end ultralight bags, and it feels like the hype doesn’t match real-world use: bulky packs, noisy shells, weird temp ratings, and moisture management that falls apart after a few nights.
So, in your opinion, what’s the most overrated sleep system on the market right now (military-style modular systems, bivy + bag combos, fancy expedition bags, etc.)? I’m especially interested in what people think is overrated for the price, or overrated because it’s “issued” and gets a pass. I’m not trying to start a brand war—just want honest field feedback on what doesn’t live up to the reputation.
