I’m finally in the market for night vision and the amount of hype vs. real info is kinda overwhelming. I’ve rented a couple setups at a local range night shoot and I’ve handled a few friends’ helmets with PVS-14s and duals, but I’m still trying to separate “cool factor” from actual capability.
When you hear “most overrated night vision,” what are you thinking—specific models, certain tube types/specs, certain brands, or the whole idea that dual tubes are always the answer? I’m not asking for secret sauce or anything, just honest takes on what people pay too much for (or what gets recommended by influencers but doesn’t hold up).
Use case: mostly hiking/land nav, occasional range night shoots, and general preparedness. Not LE/MIL work. Budget is flexible but I don’t want to overspend on hype if a simpler setup makes more sense.
