I’m trying to upgrade my hearing protection for range days and the occasional training class. I keep seeing the same “top tier” electronic muffs pushed everywhere, and I’m not sure if it’s real performance or just hype + sponsorships.
Context: I shoot mostly rifles and pistols outdoors, sometimes under a covered line (so the blast feels louder). Comfort matters because I wear them for hours, and I usually have eye pro + a hat. I’m not asking what’s “best,” more like: what hearing protection is the most overrated on the market right now, and why? Bad seal? Overpriced? Comms features that don’t deliver? Durability issues?
Interested in both electronic earmuffs and in-ear solutions (but I’m not looking for medical advice—just user experiences and what to watch out for before I waste money).
