I’m rebuilding my field kit for rucks and range weekends and trying to decide whether to keep running a dedicated GPS or just rely on a phone + offline maps. I’ve used a couple of popular handheld units and honestly some of the hype feels… inflated. Either the interface is clunky, battery life isn’t what people claim, or it’s “tactical” marketing with a big price tag.
So in your opinion, what’s the most overrated GPS unit on the market right now? Not asking for brand bashing—more like: which models get praised a lot but don’t deliver in real use (accuracy, satellite lock under canopy, durability, battery, mapping, ease of use). Bonus points if you can explain what you switched to and why.
