I’m trying to understand what people mean when they say a uniform is “the best” for military use. I’m not asking for a fashion take—I mean for real field conditions.
Context: I’m putting together a basic kit for training courses and outdoor field exercises (nothing classified, nothing illegal, just legit training and ruck days). I keep seeing ACU/OCP, Multicam, MARPAT, M81, and a bunch of “combat shirts” and “ripstop” options. Some stuff feels durable but hot, some is comfy but seems like it will tear.
So what’s the best military uniform overall, and how do you decide: climate, mission type, camouflage pattern, fabric, brand, or “issued only”? I’d also love to know what details actually matter (stitching, pocket layout, NIR/IR, knee pad pockets, etc.).
