I’m putting together a more practical EDC/field kit and I keep going back and forth on multitools. I’m not trying to be tacticool—just something that can actually handle day-to-day tasks: cutting 550 cord, fixing webbing, tightening screws on gear, opening crates, small repairs, maybe light wire work. I’ve used cheap multitools before and the pliers got sloppy fast.
What are the best multitools for military use in your experience? I’m curious what holds up under real abuse, what’s worth the money, and what features matter most (locking blades, one-hand opening, replaceable cutters, bit drivers). Also—belt pouch vs pocket clip in uniform? Any models to avoid?
