I’m finishing my second year of college (general science track right now) and I’m thinking seriously about joining the military, but I don’t want to lose the “science” side of my life. I like lab work, data, problem solving, and anything technical—physics and computer stuff especially—but I’m not sure what roles actually let you use that day to day.

I’m not locked to one branch. I’m trying to figure out what the best military career is for someone interested in science, where you can learn real skills and possibly keep options open for grad school later. I’m also realistic: I know not everything is a movie, and some jobs are more admin than advertised.

If you’ve been in, what science-heavy jobs are actually worth it? What should I ask a recruiter so I don’t get pushed into something unrelated?
