I’m putting together a small field kit for longer range days and weekend exercises (mostly hiking/rucking, sometimes in bad weather). I’ve used cheap bottles before, but I want something closer to what’s actually dependable for military use: tough, easy to carry on webbing/pack, and not a pain to drink from when you’re moving.
What do you consider the best canteens for military use right now? USGI 1-qt canteens, Nalgenes, stainless, or hydration bladders? I’m also curious about caps/cups and whether insulated covers are worth it. Not trying to cosplay—just want reliable hydration gear that holds up to abuse.
