I’ve been going down a rabbit hole on attack helicopters after watching some recent footage and then reading about older conflicts. Everyone seems to have a different “best ever” depending on whether they value combat record, survivability, sensor suite, cost, or just pure intimidation factor.
If you had to pick ONE as the best attack helicopter ever built, what would it be and why? Are we talking AH-64 Apache as the gold standard, the Mi-24 Hind for its era and toughness, the Cobra for pioneering the role, or something newer like Ka-52/Tiger/Z-10?
I’m not looking for a nationalistic answer—more like: best overall in real-world use, and how doctrine and logistics affect what “best” even means.
