I’m trying to settle a friendly argument with a buddy: what’s the best 4x4 military vehicle actually in service right now? Not “coolest prototype,” but something units are using day-to-day.
I’m thinking in the light tactical category (patrol, convoy escort, liaison, scouting, utility), but I know “best” depends on mission. Still, if you had to pick one platform as the most capable overall—mobility, reliability, protection, maintainability, and adaptability—what would you choose and why?
I’m also curious how people weigh stuff like armor vs. payload vs. off-road performance, and whether vehicles like the JLTV have basically replaced older ideas of what a 4x4 should be. Interested in real experiences and informed takes.
