I’m trying to build a balanced military fitness plan and keep getting mixed advice. Some guys say “get strong first” (squat, deadlift, press), others say endurance is king (run times, long rucks, work capacity).

My context: I train 4–5 days/week, have access to a basic gym, and I’m prepping for a role where I’ll likely be doing a lot of moving under load (rucks, kit, maybe casualty drags). My run is decent but not amazing, and I’m not a big guy.

If you had to prioritize one for overall military readiness, which matters more—strength or endurance? And how would you structure it so I’m not just “average at everything” but actually improving where it counts?
