I’m putting together a more “field-ready” kit for hikes, range days, and emergency prep. I’ve always just used random plastic bottles, but I want an actual canteen setup (canteen + cup + cover) that makes sense and won’t be annoying to use.
When you’re buying canteens, what features matter most in the real world? I’m thinking stuff like material (plastic vs stainless), size (1qt vs bigger), cap style, insulation, compatibility with MOLLE belts/plate carriers, and how easy it is to clean. Also curious if the classic canteen/cup combo is still worth it or if modern bottles make more sense.
Not looking to start a brand war—just trying to figure out what specs to prioritize so I don’t waste money.
