I’m looking for a realistic checklist for buying body armor and I’m getting lost in specs, marketing, and YouTube opinions. I’m not active duty—this would be for training classes, range days, and general preparedness. I’m trying to balance protection with comfort since I’d actually wear it for a few hours at a time.
When people say “focus on the important features,” what are they talking about in practical terms? Protection rating/certification, weight, plate shape, carrier quality, coverage, heat management, durability, sizing, etc.?
Also: any red flags to avoid (sketchy labels, too-good-to-be-true prices) would help. Not asking for anything illegal—just trying to buy smart and safely.
