I’m putting together a small “grab and go” food kit for range days and occasional overnights, and I’m getting lost in the ration world. I’ve tried a couple civilian “MRE-style” packs and some were fine, others had busted heaters or weird texture.
When you say *reliable*, what brands have you found to be the most consistent on: packaging that doesn’t leak, heaters that actually work, decent shelf life, and meals that don’t turn into a morale-killer? I’m open to actual military surplus (if it’s legit and not ancient) and also commercial equivalents. Not trying to do anything extreme—just want something that survives heat/cold in a vehicle and doesn’t fail when I finally open it.
