I’m looking to buy a ballistic helmet and I’m trying to sort out which brands are actually reliable vs. just popular on social media. This is for training/classes and range use, and I may add a helmet light and hearing protection later. I’m not trying to cosplay, but I also don’t want to cheap out on something that’s supposed to protect my head.

What brands have the best track record for real ballistic protection and solid quality control? Also, any quick red flags to avoid (fake labels, “NIJ certified” claims, etc.) would help. I’m in the US and open to new or used if it’s safe.
