I’m putting together a basic field kit for hikes, range days, and occasional overnight stuff. I like the old-school canteen + cup setup because it rides on the belt and doesn’t take up pack space. Problem is I’ve bought a couple cheap “military style” canteens online and one leaked at the cap and the other made the water taste like plastic.
For those who’ve used these in real conditions: what brands make the most reliable canteens (durable, cap doesn’t fail, minimal plastic taste, easy to clean)? I’m open to USGI style, metal, or modern options if they’re dependable. Bonus if replacement caps/gaskets are easy to find.
