I’m putting together a serious “grab-and-go” ration setup for training weekends and a few longer backcountry trips (not just camping snacks). I’ve tried random grocery store stuff and a couple cheap survival buckets, but I want something more professional-grade: consistent calories, decent shelf life, packaging that doesn’t fall apart, and food that won’t wreck you when you’re cold/tired.
I’m not asking for anything illegal or trying to buy restricted government issue—just the best commercially available rations that are close to what actual military/contractors use. What brands/types are worth the money (MRE-style, freeze-dried, ORP, ration bars, etc.)? Also curious what you all prioritize: calories vs. prep time vs. taste vs. pack volume.
