I’m trying to sort through all the marketing and figure out what “professional-grade” body armor actually means in 2026. I’m not looking for cosplay or range-only stuff. I want something I can trust for realistic training and duty-style use (not going into details), and I’m willing to pay for quality.
I’m seeing ceramic vs UHMWPE, NIJ Level III/III+/IV, different plate cuts, and a million carriers that all claim to be “operator grade.” What brands/models are genuinely proven? Also, what should I prioritize for comfort and mobility (heat, weight, shoulder straps, cummerbund) without sacrificing protection?
Not asking for anything illegal or sketchy—just trying to buy once and buy right. Any guidance from people who’ve run armor for real would be appreciated.
