I’m trying to put together a basic camo setup without spending a ton. I’m not active duty—mostly range days, hiking, and the occasional weekend field training class. I’m in a mixed environment: a lot of scrub/brush and dry grass in summer, then darker woods in fall.
When I search “best budget-friendly camouflage” I get a million ads and influencer takes. I’m not chasing the coolest pattern, I just want something that works reasonably well and holds up.
Questions: Is it smarter to buy surplus (used) uniforms in a proven pattern, or go for a cheaper new set? Are there patterns that are consistently decent across environments (or is that marketing)? Also any tips on where to save money (tops, pants, hat, outer layer) vs where not to cheap out would be appreciated.
