Curious what everyone’s “if you could pick one airframe” answer is. Not asking what’s easiest or most realistic—just the aircraft you’d most like to fly at least once, and why.
For me it’s hard to choose between something modern like an F-22 for the pure air dominance vibe, and something iconic like a P-51 for the history and the feel. I’ve only done civilian GA rides, so I’m coming at this as an enthusiast. If you’ve flown military (or worked around them), I’d love to hear what makes an aircraft special from the inside: handling, workload, mission, or just the experience.
So: what aircraft would you most like to fly, and what’s the one thing you’d want to do in it (carrier trap, low-level, AAR, mountain hover, etc.)?
