I’m in the early stages of prepping to enlist and I’m trying to get my fitness routine locked in. My schedule is all over the place (work + family stuff), so training alone is easier to fit in, but I keep hearing that training with a partner is “more military” because it builds teamwork and pushes you harder.
Right now I’m doing a mix of running, calisthenics, and some rucking on weekends. When I train alone I’m consistent, but I also catch myself cutting corners on the hard days. When I train with a buddy, I push more, but it’s harder to coordinate and sometimes we end up doing a workout that’s not actually aligned with what I need.
For recruits getting ready for basic or selection-style programs: is it better to train alone, with partners, or some mix? And how do you avoid getting injured or overdoing it when someone else is pushing the pace?
