I’m getting out in about a year and I keep hearing two totally different takes. Some people say “employers love veterans” and others say it only helps for law enforcement/defense contractors.
For context: I’m not special ops, just a regular enlisted role with a couple deployments, lots of training, and I’ve supervised a small team. No college degree yet, but I’m looking at finishing one.
When employers look at a resume, how valuable is military experience really? What parts translate best (leadership, discipline, certs, clearance)? And what do I need to do so it doesn’t just read like a bunch of acronyms to a hiring manager?
