I keep seeing videos of troops using ATVs/quad bikes and side-by-sides for everything from scouting to hauling ammo. In my head it makes sense for speed and getting through rough terrain, but it also seems like they’re loud, not armored, and probably easy to spot (especially with drones everywhere).
For people who know more: how useful are all-terrain vehicles on the battlefield really? Are they mainly for special units and raids, or do regular infantry/logistics actually benefit? And what terrain or missions make them a bad idea vs a big advantage?
