I’m trying to get a realistic idea of how often military personnel actually deploy. I’m not looking for recruiting slogans—more like what day-to-day life tends to look like over a few years.
Context: I’m considering enlisting and I’m open to a few paths (combat arms vs something more support/technical). I’m fine with training, field time, and being away from home, but I’m trying to understand how predictable deployments are and how long they usually last. Do people deploy every year? Every few years? Does it depend mostly on the world situation or more on your specific unit/job?
If you’ve been in or know how it works, I’d appreciate any plain-English breakdown.
