I’m brand new to ruck training and trying to do this the smart way. I’m not in the military, but I’m training for general fitness and maybe a future enlistment path. Right now I can walk 2–4 miles pretty comfortably, but I’ve never done it with weight.
I’ve seen people online saying “start at 30–45 lb” like it’s nothing, and other people saying “start super light.” I’m 5'10" and around 175 lb, decent cardio, but my legs and lower back get tight when I overdo stuff. What’s a realistic beginner ruck weight to start with, and how fast should I increase it? Also any basic rules for not wrecking my feet, knees, or back would help.
