I’m training up for enlistment and trying to prioritize my workouts. I can run decently and my push-ups are improving, but I keep hearing “core strength is everything” from different sources.

For military fitness, how important is core strength compared to stuff like cardio, pull-ups, and leg endurance? I’m thinking about rucking, obstacle courses, carrying gear, and just moving under fatigue. Does core work actually translate to better performance, or is it mostly about injury prevention?

If it matters, I’m mostly doing running 3x/week, basic calisthenics, and a little lifting when I can. Not asking for medical advice—just trying to build a smart plan that matches what selection/basic training actually demands.
