I’ve been working on fitness and basic field skills and I keep hearing “confidence is everything.” I get the idea, but I’m not sure where the line is between useful confidence and just bluffing. In stressful moments (hard workouts, timed tasks, being watched), I can feel my decision-making get slow and I second-guess simple stuff.
For people who’ve been through serious training or operations: how important is confidence really? Is it something you build through competence only, or are there mental habits that help? Also, how do you stay confident without becoming reckless or overestimating yourself?
