I’m trying to build a more “field-ready” base without living in the gym. I can get consistent time at home or outside, but weights aren’t always available. I’ve been doing bodyweight circuits (push-ups, air squats, lunges, burpees, planks, pull-ups when I can) 20–30 minutes a few times a week.
My question is: how effective are bodyweight circuits for military fitness in the real world? I’m aiming for better run performance, ruck tolerance, and general stamina for long days, not bodybuilding. Do circuits actually carry over, or do you eventually hit a ceiling without adding load? Any structure that works best (EMOM, AMRAP, timed rounds) would be appreciated.
